We often have people staying and going to Fat Pig Farm. Fat Pig Farm is home to Matthew, Sadie and Hedley. Together they run at 70+acre family farm in the beautiful Huon Valley, south of Hobart, where they live and nurture food from the soil to turn into great meals for the farmhouse table. Since 2011 we have been busy turning the one-time apple orchard into a mixed farm. Along with our namesake Wessex Saddleback pigs, the farm is home to chooks, a beef herd and a market garden. They also also milk a pair of full cream cows, harvest apples from our heritage orchard and have planted an olive grove that will supply all of our olive needs (in about a decade’s time!). Matthew used to be seen on SBS TV showing off all his cooking, and can also be found at the Salamanca Markets. This is us at Fat Pig Farm, just having consumed the Rhubarb cordial with a splash of local gin. Fat Pig Farm is at Glaziers Bay between Huonville and Cygnet.
Its becoming another great food hub. There are now many little placing popping up with excellent food alternatives. We recently called into the Glen Huon Farm Shop which is the home to the Bruny Island Cheese milk . Looking for something different to do on the weekend, how about Handmade, Small Batch, Sourdough Crumpets made deep in the Huon Valley. We found these at the Glen Huon Farm Gate Shed in Glen Huon, which is the home to the Bruny Island Cheese Milk. So if you are looking for something different call in and get some of the HuonMeCrumpets. These can be purchased at the Glen Huon Farm shop in Glen Huon
