Some Unusal Flora at River Front Estate

This is one of our unusal garden members, Kowhai Tree from NZ, or Sophora microphylla is a species of flowering plant in the family Fabaceae, native to New Zealand, it has been in the garden for many years and while it hasn't grown to the height suggested of 8m, it has amazing yellow flowers that come out in early spring. As to how it got into the garden at Riverfront estate Huon Valley accommodation, I reckon it was my grandmothers doing.

Big Trees of the Huon Valley

But, as the name suggests, the Grove of Giants is home to many remarkable trees. There are 150 trees over four metres in diameter or 12 metres in girth. The Huon Valley Grove of Giants is located along the same road as two other popular hiking trails. The Lake Skinner track and the Nevada Peak Track.
